There are many classic Ford nameplates that the automaker has had over the years. As Ford aims to bring us new and unique electric vehicle options, some of these old names have been used before. It's a compact hybrid truck now, but the Ford Maverick was a two-door sedan in the 1970s. Ford has kept the trademarks of many familiar names, perhaps signaling that another new hybrid or electric vehicle will use one in the future.

Filings for the Ford Capri, Escort, Cortina, and Orion were all filed this month. It's a stroll down memory lane for many of us at the dealership who remember some of these vehicles, as we date ourselves a bit. But, it's a smart idea should Ford wish to utilize a familiar name with a new generation of vehicles. That's a good way to mix the old tradition with the new one, which is going to provide us with more efficient drives in the future that we hope to see. We'll keep you updated as more details emerge.
